Cast Thinking Study
For this assignment it was a great exercise to dust off the old cobwebs as well as experiment again with Rhino, as well as beginning to understand positive and negative shapes and molds with the goal to slipcast and CNC mill out such.
I believe this bowl-like shell like simple torus shape should work as it has those curves and should create ample room for air to come in a release. The form was inspired and chosen through experimentation with swirls, spirals, and sweeps and ultimately deciding on simpler avenue of piped circles as I was having boolean issues with other forms and seemed far more unrealistic when picturing as a casting form.
The relationship between both positive and negative is interesting as the differences in this case aren't entirely clear as they are just direct inverses of one another, creating an interesting optical illusion when looking at the negative. It also reveals its simplicity alongside their similarities in each form.
